About the Role
A Commercial, Rights & Business Affairs Manager will act as a principal point of advice and direction for the business and Legal Affairs team and represent BBC Studios boards when required. You will manage, conduct and oversee a wide range of legal and business affairs activities throughout various stages of production, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and frameworks.

Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the implementation of strategies and business frameworks to secure competitive commercial deals and enable growth aligned with the business plan.
- Developing and maintaining standard documentation and processes.
- Proposing and delivering innovative and entrepreneurial solutions to complex business problems.
- Building excellent relationships across legal teams and wider business.
- Collaborating on negotiation of global commissioning deals and providing strategic advice on challenging deals.
- Advising on business affairs including production risks, legal and commercial risks, editorial policy and compliance.
- Assisting in setting and ensuring compliance with frameworks for global commissioning deals.
- Representing Business & Legal Affairs at senior levels with authority, credibility, tact and diplomacy.
- Acting as a vocal ambassador and advocate of the strategy and growth plan at senior leadership level.

Requirements

Experience
Legal qualifications are essential. Proven experience negotiating content contracts and securing competitive terms with commissioners. Comprehensive knowledge of legal and commercial issues related to producing content for commissioners. Experience innovating and leading change in a complex, competitive environment is desirable. Knowledge of television content production is advantageous.

Highly business-oriented with a commercial approach enabling quick responses to market changes. Skilled at managing conflicts and devising solutions involving trade-offs. Able to help others resolve issues dispassionately. Confident in building strong relationships across teams and representing the business at senior leadership level with authority, credibility, tact and diplomacy.
