Introduction
You will be working in the Select Committee Team (SCT), supporting the work of the House of Commons Select Committees. Select Committees are cross-party Committees of MPs who examine government policy and spending.
This post is part of SCT Communications a team of communications, digital and engagement professionals that provides a dedicated service to around 30 Select Committees.
The Role
As a Graphic Designer, you will produce select committee reports, from designing visual charts, graphs and infographics to formatting and publishing in HTML and PDF. You will translate complex information into visually engaging assets to communicate the committee's findings and recommendations. Our team publishes around 400 reports per year, covering a wide variety of topics including the war in Ukraine, cancer services, the impact of electronic waste and many more.
Some of the responsibilities for this role include:
Design, format and publish select committee reports to set standards in PDF and HTML, using Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign, drawing on accessibility standards, and expertise in graphic design and digital publishing.
Develop creative design solutions for print and digital media by collaborating with team colleagues and committee staff to develop, clarify and agree design briefs.
Turn complex information and data into visually engaging charts and infographics to explain and support select committee work.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
Proven ability and expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
Experience in digital publishing, including working within brand and accessibility guidelines, with excellent proof-reading skills.
Proven ability to provide imaginative and creative graphic design solutions for print and digital media, taking responsibility for each project from initial brief to completion.
Good organisation and decision-making skills, with the ability to resolve issues with minimal supervision and take initiative in prioritising key tasks to managing own workload.
