About the Role
Connect services and empower families to give every young child the best start in life. As a Community Inclusion Advisor, you will play a vital role connecting early years services across the borough, helping young children thrive and building strong foundations for local families. This is a three-year fixed term contract with four available roles: two for candidates holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and two for qualified Speech and Language Therapists.
You will work across early years settings, Best Start Family Hubs, and office environments as part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents’ lives. Your focus will be on delivering Best Start in Life priorities, ensuring young children and families receive seamless, joined-up support.
Typical activities include visiting schools, nurseries, or Family Hubs, collaborating with health and social care partners, and hosting evidence-based workshops for parents to strengthen the home learning environment. You will lead efforts to improve Good Level of Development outcomes, supporting early learning, school readiness, and positive transitions into Reception.
A key part of your role involves bringing together schools, private, voluntary and independent providers, and community partners to create clear, accessible pathways for local families. You will coach and guide early years practitioners, share best practice, use data to target improvement, and champion inclusive practice for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This role offers a unique opportunity to focus on early intervention and see the direct impact of your work every day as you strengthen family partnerships. You will be part of an Outstanding-rated Children's Services team that values your ideas and supports your professional development in system leadership and early years delivery.
A Children and Adult’s Barred List DBS check is required for this role. Face to face interviews will take place during the week commencing 17/08/2026.
Experience
Significant experience in Early Years with a thorough understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage, child development, and school readiness. Experience in leadership or mentoring, coaching staff, facilitating multi-agency discussions, and managing competing priorities across diverse settings.
About you
You are an approachable, warm, and solution-focused communicator who builds trust with families from all backgrounds, especially those less likely to access local services. You have a deep commitment to fairness, empathy, and teamwork, ensuring every child and family feels supported.
Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or qualified Speech and Language Therapist status is essential. An enhanced DBS check is required. Skilled in using outcome data to target support, designing and delivering engaging workshops, and embedding inclusive practice for children with SEND.
