Location
Cambridge, London or Manchester offices, with a preference for candidates based in our Global Headquarters in Cambridge.
Hours
Full-time preferred but part-time (30 hours/week) considered. Hybrid working available with up to 50% work from home averaged over a two-week period. This role is not available fully remote.
Salary
£61,500 per annum (salary bands are determined by level of previous experience to ensure fairness and consistency, eliminating the need for individual negotiations).

About the Role
Join Costello Medical as a Consultant to lead high-quality literature review projects that inform healthcare decision-making and contribute to the growth and success of our renowned Literature Reviews team. You will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple projects, including shaping project scope and methodology, leading client discussions, managing timelines and budgets, overseeing project teams, and ensuring deliverables are scientifically robust, strategically useful, and of exceptional quality. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will help clients navigate complex evidence needs and recommend appropriate review approaches. You will also contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, developing proposals, delivering pitches, and building a sustainable pipeline of literature review work. Beyond project delivery, you will line manage and mentor colleagues, provide constructive feedback, support training initiatives, contribute to recruitment, and help refine methods, tools, and internal processes as the team continues to grow. Recruitment is ongoing for start dates throughout 2026, occurring monthly. Applicants will be asked to state their availability. There is no set application deadline; the role will close once a suitable candidate is found.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience conducting literature review projects in consultancy, agency, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology, or other relevant settings.
- At least 1–2 years managing projects and project teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of systematic literature review methodology including review design, database searching, screening, data extraction, quality assessment, and qualitative or quantitative synthesis.
- Familiarity with using AI to facilitate project stages.
- Experience managing complex projects from initiation to delivery, including timelines, resourcing, budgets, scope, and quality.
- Excellent attention to detail, written communication, and data presentation skills.
- Experience communicating directly with clients or senior stakeholders, advising on project approach, presenting findings, and managing expectations.
- Ability to maintain exceptional customer service and quality under multiple competing demands in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Proven ability to build robust and sustainable client relationships.
- Experience contributing to business development including identifying opportunities, writing proposals, developing budgets, and pitching.
- Experience line managing, mentoring, or formally supporting junior colleagues with constructive feedback.

You are an experienced literature review professional ready to take ownership of client relationships, business development, project strategy, and team leadership. You have strong technical expertise in evidence synthesis and the confidence to advise clients, manage priorities, and support colleague development. Qualifications
A degree level or higher qualification in a scientific discipline (minimum 2.1).
