Salary
Up to £79,974.59 per annum (Up to £65,110.98 basic salary, depending on experience, plus a Skills Framework of the Information Age Allowance of £10,250.00 and £4,613.61 London Allowance for London based candidates only).
About the Role
British Transport Police (BTP) is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain, committed to passenger safety and protecting critical transport infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support our Digital, Data and Technology strategy.
In this role, you will design and maintain secure, scalable, and compliant data architectures that underpin both operational policing and strategic decision-making. You will play a key role in a data transformation project, implementing an integrated data analytics layer within Azure to enhance data access, analysis, and sharing across the organisation.
Working closely with the Chief Data Officer, analysts, operational teams, and technology colleagues, you will help shape data integration, governance, and usage across BTP, leveraging Microsoft 365, Azure, and Google Cloud technologies.
This is a high-impact position at the heart of a national policing organisation, where your expertise will directly support the safety of the public and critical transport infrastructure.
Experience
- Extensive experience planning and leading complex data architecture initiatives.
- Proven ability to integrate data across multi-cloud environments including Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 platforms including SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, and Teams.
- Skilled in data modelling, data management, and master data processes, including designing scalable data models, data lakes, and enterprise data structures.
- In-depth knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks including GDPR, UK data protection legislation, and law enforcement data handling standards.
- Experience providing expert advice and governance to ensure secure and compliant data solutions.
