About the Role
The AWS Data Centre Facilities Manager leads critical infrastructure operations at strategic AWS facilities that power cloud computing services worldwide. This role combines operational excellence, technical expertise, and team leadership to ensure continuous facility availability while driving innovation and cost efficiency. You will have hands-on oversight of mission-critical infrastructure and lead integrated Data Centre Systems and Mechanical & Electrical teams. Responsibilities include maintaining operational standards, security protocols, facility certifications, and managing third-party vendor relationships while implementing processes that enhance infrastructure reliability and reduce operational costs.
Key responsibilities include managing 24/7 site engineering operations, shift planning, maintenance schedules, and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM). You will oversee critical electrical systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, and PDU units, as well as mechanical systems including chillers, pumps, and air handling units. Driving Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) improvements by optimising cooling, power, and infrastructure for maximum efficiency is essential.
You will manage and optimise space and power to maximise growth and operational efficiency, plan and deliver site infrastructure projects on time and within budget, and develop and control operational budgets. Maintaining productive relationships with third-party service providers and internal stakeholders is also a key part of the role.
As a leader, you will inspire and develop teams of experienced technical professionals, act as a role model driving service excellence, and foster an inclusive environment that encourages innovation. Implementing rigorous training programs to prepare staff for various operational scenarios and driving continuous safety improvements are critical.
Compliance with health & safety standards, security procedures, and regulatory requirements is mandatory. You will lead risk management, incident response, emergency procedures, and root cause analysis to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data centre operations including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units
- Experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports
- Previous experience working in data centres with emphasis on building and equipment operation is highly desirable
