Location
MOD Main Building, London with hybrid working options (a mixture of home and office-based working to be agreed with line manager based on business requirements). Retention of current duty station considered for current MOD employees.
Hours
Full Time - 37 hours per week
Salary
£30,740 per annum plus Ministry of Defence contribution of £8,905 towards Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
About the Role
The Defence Afghan Relocation and Resettlement (DARR) Directorate manages the identification, relocation, and resettlement of eligible Afghans who supported the UK mission in Afghanistan. This rewarding role supports one of Defence’s highest priorities by assisting Afghans to begin new lives in the UK.
The Information Support Officer (ISO) is a key member of the information governance team responsible for the effective management and exploitation of information within the organisation. Reporting to an Information Manager (IMGR), the ISO advises on information-related matters and executes policies within the DARR Directorate’s Info Gov team.
Key duties include administering access permissions for SharePoint, MS Teams, and group mailboxes; maintaining and auditing SharePoint sites for assurance and governance; delivering information governance presentations; liaising with business management teams to manage access permissions; maintaining familiarity with MOD and Defence Policy to support implementation of IM directives and plans; managing physical and digital file plans in accordance with JSP 440 and JSP 441; supporting information needs during periods of change; liaising with other government departments to ensure smooth operations; and undertaking reasonable Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) tasks such as destruction of expired information.
This is a Fixed-Term Appointment expected to last 23 months, with potential for extension or permanency depending on business needs. The role supports hybrid working with a minimum of 60% office attendance expected where applicable. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
Experience
- Familiarity with SSGM administration
- Experience using Office 365 applications including SharePoint, MS Teams, and Excel
- Knowledge of Government Information Management (KIM) practices desirable

Qualifications
- No specific formal qualifications required, but candidates must be willing to undergo Security Check (SC) clearance
