About the Role
Be a leader in local democracy by managing the Democratic Services team in a high-profile, fast-paced environment where excellence truly matters. This key role supports the council’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will lead a skilled and dedicated team to provide outstanding committee and governance services, supporting elected members and working closely with senior officers. Democratic Services is a supportive, friendly, and professional service passionate about delivering good governance for members, senior officers, and residents.
This is a unique opportunity to shape and strengthen democratic processes in a council under significant external scrutiny and determined to be the best in its field. You will manage constitutionally sound decision-making processes, innovate and develop best practices in governance support, and clerk high-profile meetings including the Council's Cabinet. The role requires working in a highly sensitive political environment with professionalism and impartiality.

Experience
Proven experience and knowledge of Local Authority constitutional governance and delivering first-class democratic services. Demonstrated success in developing and delivering projects that improve the efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness of governance arrangements. Experience working in high-profile, ambitious local authorities is highly desirable.

Qualifications
