About the Role
Are you looking to develop a career in local government and governance? This is a fantastic opportunity to support local democracy by working alongside politicians and senior officers across all departments, as well as providing advice and information to the public. You will be based mainly in Richmond but may be required to work flexibly across both boroughs. We offer training and the opportunity to gain a qualification relevant to your work. Your work base will be the historic York House in Twickenham, with a mix of office and home working. Attendance at evening meetings held in person is also required.

In this role, you will develop and demonstrate a solid knowledge of the constitutional and legislative framework for local authority decision making and provide detailed advice to councillors and senior managers. You will analyse documents or discussions to extract and summarise key points. Strong communication skills, political sensitivity, effective prioritisation, and the ability to work well in a team are essential. Experience with virtual/hybrid meeting and webcasting technology is a bonus as the Council champions digital innovation and smarter ways of working.
