About the Role

The Dental Imaging Support role is based within the rapidly expanding Dental Radiology Department, situated on the 23rd Floor of Guy’s Tower in the heart of Guy’s Dental Hospital. This department supports a wide range of services including intraoral and extraoral imaging for the Dental Directorate, Acute Dental Care, Paediatric Dentistry, a Salivary Gland Service offering minimally invasive interventions, supervision of undergraduate dental students, and a Cone Beam Computed Tomography Service.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team including Radiographers, Dental Nurses, Imaging Support Staff, and Radiologists. The role involves cross-site working between Guy's Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital, supporting clinical and administrative functions within the dental imaging service.

Key responsibilities include reception duties, clinical support to radiographers and consultant radiologists, chaperoning vulnerable patients during procedures, processing and maintaining dental radiographic images and equipment, scanning and uploading radiographs in line with information governance guidelines, cleaning and preparing the department, managing consumables and stocktaking, supporting consultants in the absence of nurses, handling queries and calls, organising patient transport within the hospital, and undertaking ad-hoc tasks as required.

Experience
- Proven experience in an administrative role, preferably within a patient/customer focused environment.
- Experience dealing with challenging situations and difficult patients/customers.
- Reception experience is desirable.
- Experience working in a hospital environment, particularly in radiology, is advantageous.
- Experience within the NHS is desirable.

- Familiarity with NHS clinical and information systems such as EPIC and knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.

Qualifications
- Good general level of education with minimum GCSE or equivalent A-C grades in Maths and English.
- Educated to Diploma level or NVQ 3, City and Guilds certificate level in Business Administration or equivalent.
- Evidence of formal further training through short courses and significant experience in hospital administration and reception.
- IT package qualification or training such as the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is desirable.
