About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the Cyber Security and Digital Identity Directorate’s approach to cyber resilience and economic growth, playing a key role in DCMS's ambitious agenda. The postholder will lead a team of around 35 people delivering policies and programmes to enhance cyber security and digital resilience across the UK. This includes developing new legislation on secure technologies and supporting the UK’s vibrant and regionally diverse cyber security sector. You will collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders including the National Cyber Security Centre, international counterparts, and the wider cyber and tech community.

As Deputy Director for Cyber Resilience and Growth, you will lead a Unit comprising three G6-headed teams focused on securing organisations, securing technologies, and growth, standards and delivery. You will act as the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for both the Growth and Resilience pillars within the cross-government national cyber governance framework, supported by a secretariat team. Additionally, you will represent cyber interests in the governance of the Industrial Strategy.

The portfolio encompasses DCMS' work to:
- Improve cyber resilience across businesses, critical sectors and public services
- Drive adoption of cyber security standards and good practice
- Deliver major resilience initiatives such as Cyber Essentials, codes of practice and certification schemes
- Develop new legislation on secure technologies and promote regulatory alignment between UK and international regimes, including the EU Cyber Resilience Act
- Support growth of the UK’s cyber sector through programmes, innovation, skills initiatives, and delivery of the Cyber Growth Action Plan
- Lead implementation of the Growth and Resilience pillars of the National Cyber Action Plan

Requirements

Experience
- Proven strategic leadership in complex environments, balancing short-term pressures with long-term goals
- Strong policy and strategic acumen across economic growth, national security, science and technology
- Demonstrated success delivering complex cross-sector programmes or initiatives
- Excellent collaboration, stakeholder management, negotiation and relationship-building skills with senior stakeholders across private sector, academia and government
- Inclusive leadership with a track record of fostering diverse, positive team cultures and promoting wellbeing

About You
You will be a role model for Civil Service values, able to lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team. You will have the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders nationally and internationally, and be comfortable representing DCMS at high-level forums. You will be adaptable, resilient, and committed to driving forward the UK’s cyber resilience and growth agenda.

Qualifications
While specific qualifications are not mandated, you will have substantial experience in strategic leadership, policy development, and programme delivery. Experience in cyber security, digital resilience, economic growth policies, or working with the private sector and international stakeholders is highly desirable.

Security Clearance
This role requires Security Check (SC) clearance to start and Developed Vetting (DV) clearance once in post. Candidates must be willing to undergo the DV process if not already cleared.
