About the Role
Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX), a division of Comcast NBCUniversal, is building a world-class theme park and resort in Bedford, following UK government support unlocking a £6.4bn inward investment. Scheduled to open in 2031, the park is expected to become the UK’s most popular visitor attraction with an estimated 8.5 million visitors annually, supporting the creation of 8,000 new jobs and delivering an estimated £50 billion in economic benefits.

The Bedford Visitor Attraction Programme is led by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to support the delivery of the park by UDX and its supporting infrastructure. The programme facilitates cross-government collaboration with local authorities across the region to ensure wider benefits are realised.

This includes supporting delivery of new slip roads from the A421 by National Highways, a new railway station at Wixams by Network Rail, adoption of new local roads by the local highways authority, and delivery of other key local infrastructure by UDX.

As Head of Infrastructure Delivery and PMO, you will lead an innovative and ambitious team to embed disciplined delivery and collaborative behaviours to ensure successful programme delivery. You will also contribute corporately to DCMS’ wider Project Delivery and Major Events directorate as part of the leadership team.

Experience
- Proven success working across organisational boundaries to identify and resolve delivery challenges on complex infrastructure projects
- Demonstrable ability to improve delivery confidence through development, implementation, and enhancement of effective project controls including risk, planning, scope, change control, governance, and assurance
- Experience building and maintaining collaborative relationships with delivery partners and stakeholders to provide robust challenge and improve outcomes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity
- Ability to support effective decision-making by translating complex information into clear insights through high-quality reports and briefing materials for senior governance boards, committees, and strategic stakeholders

Qualifications
- A recognised and relevant project or programme management qualification, Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status, or completion of the Project Leadership Programme (PLP) is desirable but not essential
