Introduction You will be working in the Select Committee Team (SCT), supporting the work of the House of Commons Select Committees. Select Committees are cross-party Committees of MPs who examine government policy and spending. This post is part of SCT Communications a team of communications, digital and engagement professionals that provides a dedicated service to around 30 Select Committees. The Role As Deputy Technical Lead (Web and Data) you will play a leading role in the application and development of the committees website and supporting Committee Information System (CIS) database. You'll work closely with developers, service users and stakeholders to identify and address areas for improvement in functionality and design. You will support the Committee Improvement Project Board through managing a requirements backlog and undertaking testing of new features, providing written updates for the Board as required. Some of the responsibilities for this role include: Responsible for the end-to-end process of technology used within SCT for managing committee data and publishing to the website, working with customers and developers to ensure effectiveness and integration with business systems and processes. Use technical knowledge in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python to develop and maintain tools and processes, automating and simplifying frequent tasks. Play an active role in the web development process, including managing a backlog of tasks, writing user stories, giving feedback, conducting testing and communicating change to service users. Provide advanced troubleshooting to support colleagues using CIS and the CMS and responsible for the training and guidance provision. Skills and Experience To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: An understanding of agile working practices and has experience of working with web developers on a large information-based website and supporting databases with effective prioritisation and meeting complex deadlines. Excellent skills in HTML and CSS and intermediate skills in Python, and highly proficient in using Content Management Systems and databases Experience of driving technical resilience by diagnosing, resolving and learning from complex faults to business-critical software and tools in the moment and under pressure Next Steps and Additional Information Application Form - If you would like to apply for this role, please submit an application providing evidence against criteria 1, 2 and 4 in the Job Description.
