About the Role
If you’re interested in making a difference to people’s lives, HM Treasury offers an exciting opportunity to influence decision making that affects the whole of the UK. Working at the heart of government, you will collaborate across departments to promote responsible public spending and drive strong, sustainable economic growth.

HM Treasury’s work ranges from regulating the financial sector to reduce risks for customers, supporting the transition to a greener economy, promoting British trade globally, and backing jobs and growth across the country. As part of the Darlington Economic Campus, a cross-government hub, you will work closer to communities while tackling key national issues.

We are seeking a versatile Digital Content Producer to bring digital expertise to the Treasury ministerial team, helping communicate economic policy effectively to the public. Reporting to the Head of Channels, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Content and the production team (videographer, photographer, designer) to create engaging videos, photos, and social media content aligned with HM Treasury's digital strategy.

You will advise on digital best practices, identify creative content opportunities, and use hands-on production skills to deliver high-quality content that meets departmental standards. This role requires flexibility to support the wider digital team during major campaigns and fiscal events such as Budgets and Spending Reviews.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a direct role in communicating economic policy at the heart of government.

Requirements

Experience
Strong understanding of digital best practice with proven experience creating effective content across video, photography, and social media platforms. Experience planning and producing digital content that helps audiences understand complex information is essential.

Comfortable with hands-on content creation including shooting simple videos and photos, with basic video editing skills or a willingness to learn quickly.

Proven ability to work flexibly across different tasks, respond quickly to changing priorities, and deliver high-quality content to tight deadlines.

Confidence advising senior stakeholders on digital content, providing constructive recommendations grounded in audience insight and what works digitally.

Meticulous approach to quality control, ensuring all content aligns with departmental strategy and propriety requirements.

Natural team player who works effectively across the digital team and wider communications function.

Understanding of the political and policy environment with good judgement about sensitive content.

About you
You are adaptable, creative, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You have excellent written communication skills and the ability to translate complex policy information into clear, engaging digital content. You work collaboratively with mixed teams and maintain professionalism under pressure.

You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to influence senior colleagues and ministers on digital content strategy and delivery.

Qualifications
There are no formal qualification requirements specified for this role. However, experience working in government communications or similarly regulated environments is desirable.

Familiarity with GOV.UK publishing standards and accessibility requirements for online publications is advantageous.
