Location
London Borough of Newham, Stratford (Forensic Computing Laboratory). The unit is currently based in Stratford with plans to relocate to Thurrock. Successful candidates will be required to work from the new site in Thurrock if the move proceeds.

Hours
Full Time, 100% office attendance required as this is a lab-based role.

£34,252 per annum

About the Role
The Insolvency Service is a leading government agency providing essential services to the public and businesses, supporting fair and open markets and reducing harm caused by fraudulent activity. The Forensic Computing Unit (FCU) delivers digital forensic support to investigation teams across the agency, ensuring digital data is recovered and captured in an evidentially sound manner. The role involves conducting digital forensic investigations and tasks with minimal supervision to produce usable data for investigations. This includes supporting on-site investigations at business premises, search warrants, and courts.

The successful candidate will assist with the acquisition of digital evidence compliant with statutory forensic regulations and ISO 17025 standards, perform forensic capture and preservation of computers, servers, and cloud systems, and conduct data analysis to extract evidential information. Responsibilities also include maintaining evidence management records, laboratory systems, producing reports, attending training, assisting on search warrants, maintaining procedural documentation, supporting eDiscovery projects, and giving evidence in court when required.

Experience
- A degree (or similar) in Digital Forensics or a related technical subject and/or demonstrable experience working in a Digital Forensic Laboratory.
- Good understanding of digital forensic principles and technologies, including awareness of the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice and ISO 17025 standards.
- Good knowledge of digital media, operating systems, storage, and devices.
- It is desirable to have experience working within law enforcement or a regulatory Digital Forensics Unit.

- Security Clearance (SC) Vetting is mandatory for this role.
- Candidates must meet nationality and residency requirements to undergo National Security Vetting.
