About the Role
This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual in a key customer-facing role within the South West Region, requiring the ability to handle sensitive matters and manage customer expectations. You will play a significant part in delivering services to customers on both a day-to-day and strategic basis, focusing on optimising the use and management of all property, buildings, and workplaces.
The role involves leading operational oversight, delivered either directly or through a third-party supplier partner network, over the entire portfolio. You will oversee, deliver, and support all aspects of day-to-day hard and soft Facilities Management (FM) services, including contract and supplier management, as well as planning and delivering an extensive maintenance and minor works programme.
Acting as the key customer interface across your area or building, you will work in partnership to deliver services effectively. The role is site-based for the majority of the working week, with travel to different locations within the service delivery area and occasional national travel required. A full UK driving licence is essential due to the geographical size of the region and limited public transport availability.
Responsibilities include managing and developing allocated staff to ensure compliance with policy, instructions, and guidance; providing Hard and Soft FM advice and delivery within the delegated Service Delivery Area (SDA); stakeholder engagement; performance and risk management; assurance; programme delivery; and issue resolution reporting to the Senior Facilities Manager.
You will deliver delegated responsibilities for approval of Billable Works and Soft FM activities, act as or support the Service Manager’s Representative, and provide accurate responses to DIO-wide infrastructure queries. You will actively participate in engagement activities such as Establishment Weekly Meetings and Site Infrastructure Management Meetings.
The role promotes a healthy, safe, and inclusive working culture, prioritising people’s development and supporting smart ways of working. Building strong, collaborative, professional relationships across DIO and the wider MOD is essential to provide continued support across a diverse estate in support of Defence.
You will proactively manage work tasks through clear and effective direction, support continuous improvement, and maintain all DIO Business as Usual Operational Requirements while responding to changing departmental priorities.
