Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities

Salary
Up to £42,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, with potential to increase by £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training

About the Role
As an Electrical Technician at Thames Gateway AWTW, the UK’s only large-scale desalination plant for drinking water, you will work on electrical assets across the site alongside the process team. This strategic site has a capacity of up to 75 million litres of water a day and plays a key role in Thames Water’s drought plan.
You will be part of multiple disciplined teams following a robust maintenance plan, undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, electrical fault finding, installation projects, project commissioning, and emergency breakdown repairs.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring health, safety, and well-being for yourself and others by complying with Health and Safety regulations and Thames Water guidelines. You will carry out daily planned maintenance of plant and equipment, respond to alarms, install new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations, and record work and asset information to improve business performance.
You will identify potential risks and recommend solutions, provide specialist technical advice, and support the coaching, training, and development of staff, including apprentices.
Delivering excellent customer experience and maintaining professional, respectful communication with internal and external customers is essential.
All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.

Requirements

Experience
Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or holding NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in electrical engineering. Experience with 18th Edition wiring regulations preferred but training can be provided. HV awareness is beneficial but not essential.

Qualifications
Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering. NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 preferred. 18th Edition wiring regulations preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
