About the Role
This leadership role will bring coherence and focus to The Crown Estate's role in offshore energy. You will ensure that The Crown Estate’s systems leadership in shaping offshore energy to deliver Net Zero and energy security is well defined, aligned, and supported among customers and key stakeholders. Reporting to the Strategy & Systems Director and working alongside the Marine Strategy, Marine Delivery Routemap team, Energy, Infrastructure and Nature sector teams, you will ensure leasing and broader de-risking activities fully support our role.
You will support relationships and partnerships with key energy sector stakeholders including NESO, Ofgem and NGET, and manage interfaces with wider energy systems stakeholders such as DESNZ and GB Energy. Additionally, you will contribute to marine and enterprise policy teams on UK and relevant international energy policy, advocating forward-thinking policy positions that support our strategy.
Main accountabilities include ensuring whole-systems coherence across energy sectors by delivering clear outcomes through Routemap methodologies into leasing strategies and programmes; supporting integration between offshore leasing and strategic energy network design; strengthening the attractiveness of offshore energy leasing programmes through de-risking activities; contributing to offshore/coastal energy system security and resilience; managing strategic relationships with NESO, NGET and Ofgem; leading stakeholder engagement for networks and energy systems; and providing thought leadership on energy policy to secure and enhance The Crown Estate’s role and enterprise objectives.
Experience
Strong systems thinking capabilities demonstrated in complex stakeholder environments. Direct knowledge of UK energy systems in a net zero context, including technology, end-users/consumers, supply chains, markets, policy and regulation. Proven experience in policy shaping, stakeholder engagement, and defining enterprise positions under scrutiny and challenge.
About you
Excellent communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal, enabling impactful engagement. Familiarity with sustainability principles and their integration into policies. Ability to lead and collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in energy systems, policy, or related fields are desirable but not explicitly stated. A strong track record in leadership within energy or related sectors is essential.
