About the Role
Tenable is a family-owned precision engineering company with over 70 CNC sliding head machines at its London site and more than 250 across the UK. As an Engineering Quality Technician Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers to develop the skills needed to become a competent Engineer with a focus on quality. You will play an active role in ensuring product quality and precision within a fast-paced manufacturing environment by inspecting components using advanced measurement equipment such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), micrometres, and callipers, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings and technical specifications.
You will support in-process and final inspections to maintain high quality standards and minimise defects. The role involves assisting with root cause analysis, applying problem-solving techniques to identify issues and contribute to corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality teams, you will gain valuable experience in cross-functional problem solving and quality assurance processes. You will be encouraged to take initiative, build technical knowledge, and develop the skills needed to become a proactive quality engineering professional.
This apprenticeship offers a strong foundation in engineering quality, combining practical experience with structured learning to support long-term career progression in advanced manufacturing.
Experience
No prior experience required but a strong interest in quality assurance and precision engineering within a manufacturing environment is essential.

Excellent attention to detail, a proactive and analytical approach to identifying and resolving issues, and strong communication and organisational skills are important. Patience, logical thinking, and administrative skills will support your success in this role.
Qualifications
You will attend Kingston College for off-the-job training and complete an HNC Engineering Level 4 qualification. Units include Engineering Design, Engineering Maths, Managing a Professional Engineering Project, Mechatronics, Mechanical Principles, Production Engineering for Manufacture, Quality and Process Improvement, and Digital Principles.
Successful completion of this apprenticeship may lead to progression to a Higher National Diploma in Engineering, an undergraduate degree, or employment in engineering or maintenance-related roles. Upon completion, you will be eligible to register with EngTech or IMechE as an Engineering Technician.
