About the Role
We are seeking to appoint Exam Invigilators to join our pool of invigilators at Emerson Park Academy. Successful applicants will work as part of a team, adopting a flexible approach to working patterns and demonstrating reliability. Invigilators oversee students in the main exam hall as well as smaller exam rooms, ensuring exam conditions are maintained throughout. All invigilators receive training to support candidates with access arrangements such as readers, supervised rest breaks, extra time, and word processors. SEND Invigilators receive additional training to assist students requiring a scribe. A strong understanding of and fluency in English is essential, especially for scribes who write on behalf of students with special educational or additional needs. The role requires standing and walking for long periods, being observant, calm, patient, supportive, and meticulous with administrative duties related to examinations.

Main responsibilities include:
- Assisting with setting up examination rooms including displaying JCQ posters and signage and laying out identification cards according to seating plans
- Placing examination scripts on desks and setting up laptops for students using word processors
- Ensuring students do not communicate once inside the exam room
- Assisting students at the start of exams and directing them to their allocated seats
- Invigilating during exams, dealing with student queries according to strict procedures and liaising with the Lead Invigilator/Examinations Officer
- Checking attendance registers and recording late arrivals or incidents
- Supervising candidates throughout the exam, escorting students as required while maintaining exam conditions
- Collecting and collating scripts at the end of exams following JCQ procedures
- Supervising students leaving the exam room to ensure exam conditions continue to be met

You will receive in-house training and later complete online training units with the Exams Office Association to enhance your knowledge of exam regulations. Emerson Park Academy is a successful and oversubscribed 11-16 secondary school located in pleasant surroundings on the edge of the green belt, close to both countryside and central London. Experience
No prior experience is required as full training will be provided. Reliability and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.

You must be comfortable standing and walking for long periods, observant, calm, patient, supportive, and meticulous with administrative tasks. A strong command of the English language is essential, especially for those supporting students with special educational needs. Flexibility in working hours and a professional approach to maintaining exam conditions are required.
