About the Role
Are you a culinary connoisseur and gastronomic genius with a passion for creating masterful dishes that delight the senses? At BaxterStorey, we offer an exceptional culinary playground where your creativity can flourish and your talents shine. We believe the best food comes from nurturing talent and empowering our chefs to continuously evolve and refine their craft, investing in your professional growth.

As a member of our team, you will be supported in an inclusive environment that encourages growth and celebrates diversity. We provide ongoing training to ensure you have the skills and knowledge to thrive, alongside a good work-life balance because we believe people excel when they can take care of themselves.

In this role, you will manage the smooth and efficient operation of a kitchen operating across multiple outlets, maintaining the company’s reputation for food quality at all times. This is a single site contract with separate kitchens for Hospitality and the Free-Issue Staff restaurant, also supporting the retail Coffee Bar with cakes, pastries, and tray bakes.

The role involves high volume and high quality hospitality offerings, serving circa 600 lunches daily in the staff restaurant with a streamlined and healthy breakfast offering in the morning. You will organise the planning, preparation, cooking, and presentation of food to the standards required by the company and client.

You will ensure supplies are correctly issued, used, and accounted for, carry out stock takes and food rotation procedures, set objectives, and be responsible for day-to-day kitchen operations including supervising recruitment and selection processes. You will assess employee performance, recognise training needs and potential, and continuously update your industry knowledge on current food trends and ingredients.

Financial control is key, as you will control and achieve agreed financial targets while maximising commercial opportunities and communicating these with your team. You will also ensure the location meets statutory and company requirements for Health and Safety, Food Safety, and environmental legislation and procedures.

Benefits
28 days holiday including bank holidays plus your birthday off, 3 volunteering days, 3 days grandparent leave, 24 weeks enhanced maternity leave, secondary carer leave, wedding/commitment day leave, free meals on shift, bespoke training and development opportunities, apprenticeships for all experience levels, pension and life insurance, discounts via Perkbox app on high street shops, holidays & cinema, wellbeing hub, employee assistance programme, and cycle to work scheme.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience within a demanding kitchen environment at the relevant level is essential. Experience managing high volume, high quality hospitality operations is highly desirable.

About you
You are a team player who understands that being a great chef is not just about cooking but also about working collaboratively and building strong relationships. You are motivated, passionate about food provenance, and committed to continuous learning and development. You have the ability to negotiate and build relationships with suppliers.

Qualifications
Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate or above is required.
