40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm. Some evening and weekend work may be required on occasion.
Salary
£32,000 depending on experience plus other Veolia benefits
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an External Engagement Officer to design and deliver strategic campaigns supporting local authorities to promote recycling and waste minimisation. You will develop engaging digital social media content in various formats, including video, to make a real impact on recycling rates by communicating with residents using innovative digital techniques. You will lead on reactive and proactive press for your area, identifying and developing good news stories throughout the year.
You will support your team by communicating with residents to resolve issues, delivering face-to-face community engagement activities, and responding to resident complaints on social media. This includes identifying target groups, developing strategies to deliver key messages, delivering community events, and door-knocking target areas.
This role involves working in both South London (based in Southwark) and Kings Cross in a hybrid manner. A full driving licence and experience driving in the UK is preferable.

Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to utilise social media campaigns and tailor communication to different audiences
- Confident in developing content in multiple formats, including filming and basic video editing
- Excellent attention to detail, planning and organisational skills with proven ability to prioritise workloads and multi-task
- Experience of complaint resolution and speaking to the public
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of the recycling sector
- Experience working with local authorities
- Experience designing and delivering social media, social advertising and digital campaigns
- Experience dealing with media proactively and reactively
- Full UK Driving Licence and experience driving in the UK
About you
You will be a detail-oriented and creative individual, confident in communicating concisely and clearly. You will be able to work unsupervised when necessary but also enjoy collaborating with teammates. You will be available to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
Qualifications
A full UK driving licence and experience driving in the UK is preferable but not essential.
