About the Role
We are Global Guardians, the UK’s leading Property Guardianship Company dedicated to revitalising empty properties for the benefit of local communities. We provide sustainable and affordable solutions by placing working professionals as guardians in vacant buildings to keep them safe and secure. As a Fire Safety Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring all properties under our guardianship comply with current UK fire safety standards. You will support the company in maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, insurance conditions, and best practices in fire prevention and response. Your responsibilities will include conducting and reviewing Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) in line with the Fire Safety Order 2005 (as amended 2021), identifying and mitigating fire safety risks, overseeing fire detection and suppression systems, inspecting fire safety equipment, delivering fire safety training, investigating fire-related incidents, and liaising with Fire and Rescue Services and regulatory bodies. You will also conduct internal audits, support external inspections, and ensure company policies align with legislation.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years proven experience in fire safety engineering, fire risk assessment, or fire protection design, ideally within housing, residential property management, or facilities management sectors.
- Experience conducting fire risk assessments for HMO-type or multi-occupancy buildings.
- Familiarity with relevant British Standards including BS 5839 (Fire detection and alarm systems), BS 5266 (Emergency lighting), BS 9999 / BS 9991 (Fire safety in design, management, and use of buildings).
- Understanding of Building Safety Act 2022 implications for residential buildings is desirable.

Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

Qualifications
Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Fire Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
Recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification.
