About the Role
As a Functional Assessor, you will utilise your clinical expertise while maintaining your registration and enjoying a better work-life balance. You will carry out functional assessments with claimants face to face, via video and telephone to assess their ability to undertake activities of daily living. You will ask focused questions using active listening and critical reasoning skills to gather accurate information throughout the claimant assessment. You will produce high quality, structured clinical reports for submission to the DWP. You will work alongside other experienced clinical colleagues to ensure high-quality and clinically fair assessments for all claimants.

Ingeus offers predictable hours, private pension, private medical insurance, maternity and parental leave, paid training, CPD and reimbursed registration fees, paid structured training to achieve formal DWP accreditation, a supportive clinically led culture, clear career routes within Ingeus and the wider APM Group, online shopping discounts, a variety of other financial and lifestyle options, and a £2,000 refer a friend scheme.

While you will not make decisions or recommendations regarding claimant services and benefits, you will use your clinical experience to ask the right questions to fully understand the claimant’s needs and living environment, gathering accurate information for the DWP to make those decisions.

This role suits clinicians seeking to use their skills in a different way within a structured, high performing environment that values service excellence and offers formal training to become a DWP approved Functional Assessor. It requires confidence with computers and learning new software to complete detailed, high-quality reports.

Requirements

Experience
Minimum 12 months post-registration clinical experience and practising as a clinician within the last year. Pharmacists require a minimum of 18 months experience.

About you
Thrives in a high performing, structured environment focused on service excellence. Open to formal training and ongoing constructive feedback. Confident using computers and learning new software. Comfortable working with targets and flexible working arrangements including some onsite attendance.

Qualifications
NMC-registered Adult Nurses (RGN, RMN, RNLD), HCPC-registered Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists or Paramedics, or GPHC-registered Pharmacists. Excellent communication and critical-thinking skills required.
