About the Role
A unique opportunity to teach small groups and make a real difference. You will have more time to build relationships with your students, teach smaller groups or 1-1, and support students with the potential to achieve high grades at GCSE. Most students have an Education Health Care Plan for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs, and you will help transform their educational experience. You will be supported by a formal induction process and ongoing training opportunities.

This role involves teaching maths to students aged 11-16 or 16-19, primarily Functional Skills (Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2) or GCSE Maths. There may be opportunities to teach AS or A Level Maths for suitable candidates. In addition to on-site teaching, you may deliver 1:1 tuition in home or community settings for students unable to access on-site learning.

Staff work flexibly, with potential to teach at other Malden Oaks sites and/or additional subjects. All subject teachers also serve as form tutors, taking pastoral responsibility for students.

Despite the school's small size, it offers a broad and balanced curriculum with 19 subjects, encouraging students to develop interests beyond academics through programmes such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Supporting students in building positive relationships, self-confidence, resilience, and creativity is central to the school's ethos and success is measured by both academic results and student feedback.

Experience
Experienced and enthusiastic Maths teacher, ideally with experience working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Experience teaching Functional Skills and GCSE Maths is desirable. Experience in alternative provision settings is advantageous but not essential.

About you
Committed to making a difference, patient, adaptable, and able to build strong relationships with students. Willingness to work flexibly across sites and deliver 1:1 tuition in community or home settings. Able to take on pastoral responsibilities as a form tutor.

Understanding and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is essential.

Qualifications
Qualified teacher status with relevant teaching qualifications. Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
