We are looking to appoint two new gravedigger / gardeners to work in our small but busy Bereavement Services team. We are looking for people who are fit and enthusiastic and have the right attitude to work in a unique but rewarding environment. Key duties will include: Grave digging – usually using machinery but sometimes manually too Grounds maintenance including grass cutting, strimming, weeding and general tidying up Emptying of litter bins and the clearance of litter and debris Any other duties as required for the effective operation of the service Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the following: Experience of working in a cemetery, grounds maintenance or similar environment Experience of undertaking grounds maintenance or similar work Enthusiasm, empathy, sympathy and flexibility The ability to meet deadlines and ensure that service standards are met A full driving licence is desirable as although based at the Watling Street cemetery the job involves visits to other sites including the Council’s Stone and Swanscombe cemeteries and closed churchyards. Experience of using a mini-digger and dumper is desirable, as is the ability to tow a trailer, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
