About the Role
Tower Hamlets is a culturally diverse borough offering an exciting opportunity for a Green Team Operative. In this role, you will take a lead part in the horticultural maintenance of parks and open spaces throughout the borough. Your responsibilities will include grass cutting, flower bed maintenance, and bowling green upkeep. The Council is committed to enhancing the quality of its green spaces, and as a Green Team Operative, you will play a key role in supporting this goal by maintaining designated sites to a high horticultural standard and contributing to local and national award schemes. You will also assist with basic maintenance of tools and machinery, engage courteously with the public, and participate in community horticultural and ecological events such as tree and bulb planting and clean-up days. The Council values equality and expects all employees to promote its policies and undertake relevant training as necessary.

Experience
- Knowledge of issues relating to parks and open spaces
- Working knowledge of plants, bedding schemes, and fine turf maintenance
- Experience in frontline grounds maintenance services
- Experience maintaining green spaces to a high standard
- Experience working both independently and as part of a team
- Experience using appropriate grounds maintenance tools and machinery

About you
- Able to operate and carry out routine maintenance of horticultural machinery, tools, and equipment
- Knowledge of First Aid to protect public safety and park infrastructure
- Understanding of Health & Safety requirements related to parks, open spaces, and safe pesticide use
- Courteous and efficient when dealing with the public
- Committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace
