About the Role

We are seeking a Casual Groundsperson to help maintain our world-class pitches to the highest standards. You will join a passionate team dedicated to ensuring our grounds always look their best. This hands-on role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in turf care within a sporting environment. It is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment with a clear progression path to senior grounds person roles upon gaining the right experience and qualifications.
Experience
- Maintaining playing surfaces using the latest turfcare machinery, equipment, and techniques
- Match day duties including setting up practice facilities, positioning boundary ropes, sightscreens, advertising boards, sweeping wickets, repairing foot holes, and re-marking wickets
- Cricket ground preparation and renovation such as deploying rain covers, mowing, marking out, and operating pedestrian and tractor-mounted machinery
- Routine maintenance of turfcare machinery
- Tidying, litter picking, strimming, and hedge cutting
- Working effectively as part of a team to support smooth running of matchdays and non-matchdays

- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Flexible and proactive approach to working hours including availability for evenings and weekends
- Genuine passion for sport with a clear understanding of cricket fixture operations and seasonal demands
- Good turf skills and ideally some experience preparing cricket wickets
- Good general horticultural knowledge
Qualifications
- Turf science qualification or equivalent desirable but not essential
- Ability to carry out basic maintenance on equipment
- Spraying qualification desirable
