About the Role
Join Lambeth Council’s Community Works team as a Groundworks Operative and play a vital role in maintaining and improving estate-based communal spaces across the borough. You will carry out a variety of groundworks including paving, concreting, fencing, and general ground repairs. Supporting small planned projects, you will ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently, accurately recording tasks using PDA and Schedule of Rates (SOR) systems. This role offers the opportunity to work within a skilled, supportive in-house Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) committed to enhancing the appearance and safety of Lambeth’s estates while delivering excellent value for money.

About the Team
Community Works is Lambeth’s in-house DLO delivering high-quality communal repairs, estate maintenance, and planned improvements. The team takes pride in making a visible difference to local communities by maintaining shared spaces and reducing reliance on external contractors.
Experience
- Skilled groundworker with hands-on experience in estate or construction settings.
- Proven ability to carry out paving, concreting, fencing, and ground repairs.
- Experience using PDAs or handheld technology to accurately record and close jobs.
- Strong health and safety awareness and adherence to safe working practices.
- Ability to code works correctly using Schedule of Rates (SOR) codes.

Qualifications
- No formal qualifications are specified; however, relevant groundworks experience is essential.
