About the Role
As the Head of Legal, you will lead the Section 29 team responsible for scrutinising regulators’ fitness to practise decisions and processes. You will ensure that the review work is robust and consistently focused on protecting the public. This includes assessing cases that may present risks to public protection, managing appeals and external Counsel, and working with external solicitors.
You will use insights from scrutiny work to encourage improvements in fitness to practise across professional regulation by sharing good practice and highlighting emerging risks and themes externally.
In addition, you will collaborate across the organisation, providing expert advice on fitness to practise issues, consultation responses, and contributing to policy development including regulatory reform.
This is a fixed-term role covering maternity leave. We welcome applications from those interested in secondment opportunities and are open to discussing arrangements that support professional development.
