About the Role
Working at the UK Parliament offers a unique and rewarding career at the heart of the UK's democratic system. The Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team (PMST) consists of approximately 144 directly employed House staff, including around 55 craft persons, who maintain the Parliamentary Estate buildings, engineering systems, and furnishings. This role is crucial in ensuring a fully functioning, safe working environment for the many thousands of people who work in and visit Parliament. You will be part of PMST's senior management team, expected to set professional and technical standards while participating in wider strategic management issues. You will lead the design and transition of the organizational structure and develop the maintenance team to enhance service delivery through forward planning and training. You will manage the operation, maintenance, and repair of the estate's building services systems, ensuring compliance with agreed KPIs and maximizing operational availability.
Experience
Educated to or actively working towards a degree level in a relevant subject (Building Services related) or significant relevant experience with at least five years in a senior management role. Significant experience in managing complex building services installations and a large team of managers/team leaders is essential.
About you
You must possess the ability to supervise, motivate, and lead staff and contractors, setting and monitoring professional standards. Proven ability to manage a team flexibly to maximize efficiency while delivering high-quality services is crucial.
Qualifications
Membership of or actively working towards a relevant professional institute at IEng level minimum, such as IMechE, IET, or CIBSE, is preferred. Alternatively, significant proven relevant experience may be considered.
