About the Role
The Health Play Specialist role involves supporting the emotional and developmental needs of children and young people undergoing medical treatment. You will use play and creative activities to help reduce anxiety, explain medical procedures, and promote coping strategies. This role is vital in creating a positive hospital experience for patients and their families, working closely with clinical teams to deliver tailored play interventions that support health and wellbeing.
Experience
Experience working with children in a healthcare or educational setting is highly desirable. Knowledge of child development and therapeutic play techniques is advantageous.
About you
You will be compassionate, patient, and creative, with excellent communication skills and the ability to engage children of all ages and backgrounds. You should be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of children and their families.
Qualifications
A relevant qualification in play therapy, health play, or a related field is preferred. Training and experience in child development, safeguarding, and health and safety are essential.
