About the Role
The Health Play Specialist plays a vital role in supporting children and young people in hospital through therapeutic play and recreation. You will contribute to assessments and overall care planning by applying your knowledge of child and adolescent development, alongside an understanding of child and vulnerable adult protection issues. Your empathetic support will help families under stress and in crisis, offering advice to assist children in coping with and adapting to treatment, demonstrating a strong commitment to family-centred care. You will monitor, evaluate, and modify therapeutic interventions to measure progress and ensure the effectiveness of care plans. Additionally, you will apply your understanding of the impact of hospitalisation and illness on young patients and their families when contributing to care pathways. The role may require you to provide cover across wards or departments as needed, ensuring consistent play input throughout the Play and Youth Play Service. You will be part of a team of 35 experienced staff led by a Play Services Manager who will actively support your professional development. Join one of the best NHS trusts to work for, recognised for its supportive and flexible working environment.
