About the Role
The Home Improvement Agency (HIA) at Lambeth Council is seeking a confident, highly organised, and efficient Surveyor for a 6-month secondment. The HIA team specialises in home adaptations and improvements for a diverse client group including council tenants, housing association tenants, and homeowners. Working closely with the Occupational Therapy service, the role focuses on making homes more accessible, safer, and improving living conditions to help clients live independently for longer.
Key responsibilities include assessing the feasibility of adaptation schemes recommended by Occupational Therapy, drawing up schedules of works, providing detailed drawings for contractors, overseeing adaptation plans, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards. You will manage a caseload, deliver and meet targets, and collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists, Surveyors, and Case Officers within the HIA Team.
The role also requires managing and monitoring contractors to ensure they meet key performance indicators and complete adaptations to the specified standards. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to contribute to Lambeth’s transformational One Lambeth Programme and support the borough’s diverse communities.
Experience
Previous experience in surveying or working with disabled adaptations is desirable but not essential.
About you
You are confident, highly organised, and efficient with strong project management skills. You are able to manage a caseload effectively, work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, and monitor contractor performance to ensure high-quality delivery. A commitment to improving accessibility and living conditions for a diverse client group is essential.
Qualifications
Relevant surveying qualifications or experience related to home adaptations and improvements would be advantageous.
