£39,276 - £42,771 pro rata (Grade 6)
About the Role
The Hostels and HMO Team within the London Borough of Havering currently manages 3 hostels, a Mother and Baby Unit, and HMO properties across the borough. We are an innovative team committed to supporting homeless adults, children, and young people by working closely with families to achieve positive outcomes and reduce risks of harm. This role offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to directly support residents and assist them in making positive changes.
As a Hostel & HMO Officer, you will provide skilled and enthusiastic support to families living in homeless accommodation. You will deliver a high-quality service to residents with sometimes complex needs, supporting them to sustain their quality of life, develop support plans, and engage with various support agencies.
You will act as the principal point of contact for casework within hostels and coordinate solutions for issues such as drug and alcohol misuse, domestic violence, and mental health. You will ensure the environment is well maintained and lead on safeguarding and vulnerability matters to facilitate smooth transitions into suitable accommodation.
Additional responsibilities include managing nuisance and anti-social behaviour in line with license agreements, advocating for residents, and working closely with partnerships and stakeholders in a multi-agency setting. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to manage a variable and busy schedule, and a strong team-oriented approach.
Applicants must be able to work on-site within the London Borough of Havering and travel between sites as required. A car driver is desirable.
Experience
Proven experience working with both adults and children, demonstrating knowledge of safeguarding principles. Experience in housing and homelessness, including rent collection and managing anti-social behaviour, is desirable.
Ability to deliver holistic support to residents and manage changing needs within a hostel service environment.
Experience working in a multi-agency setting and collaborating effectively with partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications
