As a Housing Solutions Officer, you will be experienced in housing support and inclusion, with a clear understanding of the local authority’s responsibilities under the Homelessness Reduction Act. This is a challenging and rewarding role within a busy housing office environment where you will be a key player in meeting and improving housing needs across the borough as part of the integrated Housing Options & Private Sector Team. You will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and contribute significantly to the vision of becoming the best Housing Team in Kent.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out the Council’s statutory duties to customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness
- Taking an innovative approach to preventing and relieving homelessness
- Assessing housing needs, identifying support requirements, and working collaboratively with partner agencies to improve people’s lives
- Writing detailed and legally sound decision letters in accordance with relevant legislation
Experience
Proven experience in housing support and inclusion, with knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act and local authority duties.

- Enthusiastic, confident and flexible approach to work
- Excellent administration, numeracy skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- Good keyboard skills and ability to quickly learn and use new software
- Strong customer care skills with the ability to discuss sensitive issues calmly and professionally
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Full driving licence and use of a car are essential

5 GCSEs (Grade C (4) or above) or equivalent, including English and Mathematics
