About the Role
The indoor ice rink at Alexandra Palace is open year-round for public skating, patch and disco sessions, ice hockey matches, birthday parties, and private hires. The Boating Lake in Alexandra Palace Park also offers a fleet of pedalos for recreational use.
As part of the ice rink management team, the Duty Manager is responsible for overseeing leisure staff and operations primarily across the Ice Rink, with additional supervision of the Boating Lake and Pitch and Putt while on duty. This role involves managing the ice rink team including Leisure Supervisors and Leisure Stewards, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and excellent customer service.
The successful candidate will have experience supervising or managing a team, preferably in a leisure or retail environment, alongside strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve escalated customer queries and complaints. Knowledge of ice rink operations and equipment such as ice cutters and ice edgers is essential. A valid First Aid at Work certificate and experience operating ice machinery would be advantageous.
This role requires physical agility including climbing, reaching, bending, pulling, and lifting, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and effective time management skills. The Duty Manager will also act as a budget administrator and contribute to the overall success of Alexandra Palace’s leisure operations.
Experience
Experience supervising or managing a team, preferably in a leisure or retail environment. Knowledge of ice rink operations and equipment such as ice cutter and ice edger. Experience operating ice machinery is advantageous.

Desirable: Awareness of Alexandra Palace's operations and events programme.
Qualifications
A valid First Aid at Work certificate is desirable. Enhanced DBS check required for this role.
