About the Role
HES Catering Services is the Local Authority provider of school meals for the London Borough of Havering, working in partnership with local schools and academies to provide award-winning meals and services. We supply a wide range of high-quality catering services to the majority of schools within the borough and have partnerships with schools outside Havering, offering bespoke solutions and assistance to individual schools and businesses with their own in-house catering teams.

Our ongoing success is driven by experienced colleagues across all sites who carefully prepare healthy, fresh, vibrant, and tasty meals using the highest quality produce. We serve over 15,000 meals per day in our schools.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will undertake the preparation, simple cooking, and serving of food and beverages in accordance with the Council’s contractual arrangements, supporting the smooth running of the kitchen and ensuring high standards of food quality and hygiene are maintained.

Experience
No direct staffing responsibilities. Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment is desirable but not essential.

About you
You will report to the Cook Supervisor or a higher graded operative. You should be reliable, motivated, and able to work effectively as part of a team. A positive attitude towards working in a busy school kitchen environment and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals is essential.

Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required for this role. However, a willingness to learn and adhere to food safety and hygiene standards is important.
