About the Role
As a Lift Engineer, you will provide technical expertise and support for the delivery of passenger and domestic lift services across our housing portfolio. Working closely with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders, you will help ensure our lifts remain safe, compliant, reliable and provide an excellent service to residents. You will play a key role in planning, specifying and overseeing lift maintenance, repairs, refurbishments and replacement projects. Using your technical knowledge and practical experience, you will identify opportunities to improve asset performance, minimise downtime and ensure all works meet the highest standards of safety and compliance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in lift engineering, asset maintenance, compliance, building safety and contractor management who enjoys combining technical expertise with stakeholder engagement to deliver positive outcomes for residents. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, supporting investment decisions and helping to maintain critical building infrastructure across our homes.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with Contract Officers to support lift maintenance, repairs, refurbishment and replacement programmes across the portfolio. Provide technical support and oversight to contractors and consultants delivering lift services, ensuring quality, safety and compliance standards are achieved. Prepare technical reports, specifications, recommendations and cost estimates to support operational and investment decisions. Undertake site inspections and surveys to assess lift condition, identify defects and recommend appropriate remedial works. Carry out fault diagnosis and root cause analysis, identifying solutions that improve lift reliability and performance. Monitor lift performance, manage risks, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, and communicate effectively with residents and stakeholders.

Experience
- Proven experience working as a Lift Service Engineer on a variety of manufacturers' equipment
- Experience carrying out lift fault diagnosis and root cause analysis
- Thorough working knowledge of hydraulic and traction lift installations
- Ability to undertake inspections, assess lift condition and produce clear technical reports
- Ability to explain technical issues and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders

Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with residents and stakeholders are essential. You are motivated to support investment decisions and improve asset performance. Pending legislative changes, you may be expected to study towards a professional qualification if not already qualified.
Qualifications
- Level 3 NVQ in Lift Installation and Commissioning and/or Level 3 NVQ in Lift Engineering Maintenance (essential)
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and the ability to maintain accurate records and reporting
- Level 4 NVQ/EAL Certificate in Performing Testing Operations (desirable)
- Experience working within the residential housing sector (desirable)
- This role is subject to a Basic DBS check
