About the Role
As a Financial Crime Compliance Manager at UK Export Finance (UKEF), you will support the development, maintenance and embedding of UKEF’s Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) framework. You will play a key role in ensuring that UKEF identifies, understands, and effectively mitigates its financial crime risks. This includes leading aspects of policy development, assurance, risk assessment, and capability building across UKEF.

You will work closely with colleagues across FCC, the Legal, Environmental & Social and Compliance Group (LEC), and the wider Department, as well as engaging with external stakeholders including other government bodies, industry representatives, and international partners.

Key responsibilities include ensuring staff across FCC, UKEF, and key stakeholders have the appropriate skills and knowledge to manage financial crime risks; assuring internal and external stakeholders of effective risk management; anticipating changes in the financial crime landscape and formulating responses; embedding the FCC framework across UKEF; supporting the annual Financial Crime Risk Assessment and internal assurance activities; considering financial crime reports appropriately; and working collaboratively to ensure effective and efficient delivery of FCC activities.

Main activities cover policy, processes and procedures review and development; supporting transactional due diligence consistency; formulating and delivering internal training programmes; preparing documentation for risk assessments and assurance; reviewing financial crime reports; engaging with stakeholders across government, industry, and international partners; and contributing to FCC’s transition to an intelligence-led operating model.

This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining high standards of compliance and risk management within a complex and evolving regulatory environment.

About you
You will be motivated to learn about the business and committed to continuous professional development. You will have excellent analytical skills, the ability to interpret complex issues and provide clear, evidence-based conclusions. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels are essential. You will be able to advise on complex quasi-legal and policy matters and represent UKEF’s requirements confidently across government and industry.

You will demonstrate a full understanding of financial crime risks relevant to UKEF and how to mitigate them, with technical knowledge of good practice in financial crime compliance. You will be able to work effectively as an ‘intelligent customer’ of professional advice and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
