About the Role
We are seeking a Medical Assessor to join the Innovative Medicines Function within the Healthcare Quality and Access group at the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). This permanent, full-time role involves assessing the clinical and regulatory aspects of initial and variation marketing authorisation applications for chemical or biological medicinal products across a variety of therapeutic areas, including complex issues affecting adult and paediatric patients.
The MHRA is implementing a flexible hybrid working model requiring a minimum of 8 days per month on site, with the possibility to flex up to 12 days depending on business needs. Remote working may be available for some roles.
The Innovative Medicines team drives quality and critically appraises benefits and risks to inform robust decisions on healthcare access, including accelerated access pathways. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to policy, share knowledge, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to support the licensing and market access of medicines and medical devices.
Experience
- Clinical, academic or pharmaceutical medicine experience including analysis of complex data, decision-making, and preparation of authoritative reports, scientific publications or regulatory submissions.
- Evidence of up-to-date specialist knowledge in one or more relevant scientific areas. Experience in immunology or oncology is advantageous but other specialist clinical areas are also welcome.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored to diverse audiences including patients, expert medical groups, and committees.
- Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate teamwork, consulting, and cooperation across disciplines.

Qualifications
- Degree in Medicine with a relevant postgraduate qualification within a specialist area.
- Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and holding a licence to practise, or eligible and willing to obtain/reactivate a licence upon joining the Agency.
- Good knowledge of relevant regulations applicable to the licensing of medicinal products.
