About the Role
This role is designed for individuals with military experience and/or military spouses and children interested in transitioning to the private sector. You will join Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Services, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global data center infrastructure. As a Military Engineering Operations Technician, you will oversee the operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical infrastructure in AWS Data Centers, ensuring continuous availability and operational excellence.
You will work alongside a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to maintain world-class mechanical and electrical systems including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), switchgear, circuit breakers, automatic transfer switches, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC systems, exhaust fans, variable frequency drives, and transformers. The role requires a motivated, self-managed individual who proactively solves problems and adapts to rapidly changing operational scenarios.
Key responsibilities include maintaining the highest safety standards, managing facility operations, performing routine equipment rounds and log-taking, troubleshooting within service level agreements, and supervising contractors performing maintenance. You will contribute to fostering a strong safety culture and own safety initiatives to mitigate risks.

Experience
- Military experience or related background preferred
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems including HVAC, controls, and electrical theory
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center or similar environment is advantageous

Qualifications
- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Preferred: 2+ years of data center engineering operations experience
