About the Role
This rolling campaign invites former qualified probation officers who have left the Civil Service within the last five years to consider returning to the Probation Service. If you have completed your probationary period and training, you may be eligible for a fast-track return without the need for a lengthy application, interview, or repeating entry-level training. The scheme offers flexible working arrangements including full or part-time hours, permanent or temporary contracts (three, six, or nine months with possible extension up to two years). You will work to keep the public safe and support the rehabilitation of people on probation. Work base locations will be discussed upon successful application and are offered within a 60-minute commute of your home. Pre-employment checks including Occupational Health Review and Enhanced Level 2 security vetting (including DBS) are required. Upon return, an individualised training needs analysis will be conducted to identify and schedule any necessary training. Temporary staff receive full Civil Service benefits except permanent tenure, automatic pension enrolment (with opt-out option), and 25 days' leave per annum pro rata.
