Location
The Firs, a four-bedded short breaks centre located in the west of the Borough of Harrow.

Hours
Permanent, part-time position, 20 hours per week covering Thursday and Sunday nights each week. Additional night and daytime hours may be available, especially during half-term holidays. Flexibility is essential, including potential standby rota participation to support staff shortages or changing service needs.

Salary
£30,909 per annum (pro rata)

About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a Night Care Assistant to provide a high-quality service for children and young people with mild, moderate, or severe learning disabilities, including those with physical disabilities, behaviours that can challenge, and/or on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role supports families and carers by delivering safe and effective care during waking night shifts, often working alone and requiring initiative, skill, and responsibility. During half-term holidays, the role also involves supporting day care with more team-based activities. This post is exempt under the Employment (Sex Discrimination) Act 2000 and is open to female applicants only.

Experience
- Good working knowledge of the needs of people with learning disabilities.
- Experience working with children or adults with or without disabilities.
- Experience in taking responsibility for children/young people and/or assisting with personal care such as toileting and eating needs.

About You
- Willingness to learn relevant childcare and legal frameworks including the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Children’s Home Regulations and Quality Standards 2015, and data protection.
- Ability or willingness to undertake training to perform Gastrostomy feeding.
- Understanding of both verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Capacity to manage aggressive and challenging behaviour and participate in Physical Intervention Training provided by Harrow Council.
- Ability to work waking night shifts mainly during term time and daytime care assistant shifts mainly during half term.
- Willingness to join a standby rota and support staff shortages as required.

Qualifications
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Child Care (England) or an equivalent qualification recognized by the registered person.
- If not currently qualified, willingness to attain the qualification within the relevant timescale.
