About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking an Occupational Therapist to deliver a high-quality and effective occupational therapy service for adults and children. This role involves responding promptly to the needs of individuals, their carers, and families by providing preventative support to promote independence. You will be responsible for assessing, developing, reviewing, and monitoring individual care plans related to adaptations, equipment, and moving and handling to support independent living.
All assessments and support plans will be completed in line with the well-being principles of the Care Act 2014 and will reflect a strengths-based approach.
The role requires regular travel to peripheral equipment stores to collect, deliver, fit, and assess residents with low-level equipment in their homes. Therefore, a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential. The post holder must also have the physical ability to safely manage and perform the manual aspects of the role.
Guidance, support, and supervision will be provided according to individual experience and capabilities, in line with the Council’s Supervision Policy.
Experience
Experience working as an Occupational Therapist within community or social care settings is desirable to effectively assess and support individuals’ needs.
About you
- Ability to maintain and demonstrate Royal College of Occupational Therapy guidelines and standards of practice, including accurate and comprehensive record keeping.
- Good understanding of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Ability to work in accordance with the Care Act Statutory Guidance and MCA Code of Practice.
- Physically able to carry out manual handling and equipment fitting duties.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Qualifications
- Dip COT (state registered) or Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, or has equivalent relevant work experience.
