About the Role
The Community Occupational Therapy and Sensory Service coordinates the provision of occupational therapy and sensory services, advising on equipment and adaptations for both short term and complex specialist long term support in the community. The service ensures the delivery of high quality, person centred, strengths-based practice that champions the independence and wellbeing of Hackney's residents. The focus is on assessing individuals within their home environment and managing complex casework related to physical disabilities and the provision of specialist equipment and adaptations. This service includes an integrated adaptation and home improvement service working in partnership alongside the occupational therapy and sensory service.
Care Act Assessments are completed collaboratively with residents, family members, carers, and other involved professionals to ensure long-term care and support needs are assessed and any newly arising concerns are addressed.
As a Team Manager, you will deputise for the Deputy Head of Service and Therapy Lead, support fellow Team Managers as required, and lead the team through transformational improvements within Adult Social Care. You will promote inclusive practice across your team and champion the occupational therapy profession within and beyond the organisation. You will use critical reflection to enhance your own and others’ practice, recognise knowledge gaps, and foster a culture of learning. You will apply ethical, legal, and human rights frameworks to complex decision-making and demonstrate awareness of effective OT and social care models and interventions.
Hackney Council values its staff as its most outstanding asset, committed to serving residents and achieving the best outcomes.
