About the Role
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking dedicated On-Call Firefighters to join the Minsterley station. On-call firefighters provide essential emergency response services across 22 stations, attending incidents such as fires, floods, road traffic collisions, and chemical spills. You will receive extensive training and ongoing support to develop your skills and confidence. This role requires commitment to continuous training and the ability to respond promptly when called. On-call firefighters are professional, front-line emergency responders who balance their everyday lives and jobs with the responsibility of protecting their community.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service operates from 23 sites across Shropshire, serving over 493,000 residents with a fleet of 46 vehicles and specialist appliances. The Service is committed to prevention and protection activities to educate and safeguard communities and businesses.

From day one, you will be supported by a dedicated On-Call Recruitment Team, Fitness Team, and Training Instructors to guide you through recruitment, fitness preparation, and training. Initial training consists of a two-week course followed by weekly evening sessions. Continuous professional development is provided throughout your career.

Experience
No previous firefighting experience is required. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life, including stay-at-home parents, self-employed business owners, shop workers, tradespeople, and more.

You must be physically fit, over 18 years old, and live or work within five minutes of the Minsterley on-call fire station. The role requires courage, a strong desire to serve your community, and the ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team. We support your fitness journey and provide all necessary training. The post is subject to satisfactory DBS check, references, and medical clearance.
