Base retainer of $89.75 per fortnight plus $38.00 per hour for incident and drill attendance

About the Role
On-Call Firefighters work from their local Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Fire Station and undertake a wide range of duties including community fire safety work, attending fires and other emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents or chemical hazards, and delivering community education on fire prevention and safety for school children, senior citizens, and local businesses. They also collaborate with other emergency services including NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service, and NSW Police. On-Call Firefighters are paid for attendance at incidents, training sessions, community safety, and education activities. Training is provided on an ongoing basis covering all aspects of firefighting and rescue including basic life support, rope work, power tool use, and community engagement skills.

Experience
No prior firefighting experience is required as full training is provided. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment is essential.

About you
You must be team oriented, community-focused, adaptable, reliable, and able to respond promptly to emergency incidents. Availability across weekdays and/or weekends, including day and/or night work, is required. You must live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station to ensure timely response. Commitment to achieving work goals and the ability to learn new skills are important attributes for success in this role.

Qualifications
Valid NSW Driver's Licence (minimum P1) is essential. You must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. Minimum attendance requirements include responding to at least 33% of all calls over a six-month period, a minimum of 80% of calls during compulsory availability in any four-week period, and no less than 75% drill attendance.
