About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Barking Abbey School for a Pastoral Co-Ordinator to work alongside our Pastoral Teams. We are looking for a committed member of staff to undertake this vital role supporting students’ behaviour, wellbeing, attendance and learning. This role offers the chance to learn new skills and develop professionally within a dedicated and supportive pastoral team.

Barking Abbey is an Ofsted Outstanding, heavily over-subscribed dual campus secondary school with a strong reputation for academic excellence and a supportive professional environment. The school is located less than 10 minutes walk from Upney tube and 15 minutes from Barking mainline station.

Barking Abbey celebrates its diversity and positively welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to making a difference in young people’s lives regardless of background or history.

In return, we offer:
- A supportive and encouraging staff team
- Access to a wide range of CPD opportunities within and beyond school
- A school that values staff well-being and workload management
- A positive ethos with excellent behaviour reinforced by highly visible senior leadership and centralised behaviour systems

Barking Abbey and Eastbrook schools have been working in a soft federation since September 2023, collaborating successfully while retaining their individual identity, ethos, and character.

Ofsted recently judged Barking Abbey to be Outstanding in all areas, highlighting exemplary pupil conduct, clear and simple rules, engaged and focused pupils, and staff appreciation of leadership’s consideration of workload and well-being.
