About the Role
The Patient Services Co-ordinator provides a friendly and efficient service for patients and visitors while supporting the clinical and administrative functions of the practice. Key responsibilities include welcoming and assisting patients and visitors, answering telephone calls, responding to digital queries, managing appointment requests, patient registrations, and updates to patient records. The postholder will process incoming post, emails, clinical documents, and digital inboxes such as Accurx and ERS. They will review administrative tasks, gather relevant information, resolve routine queries within agreed procedures, and escalate clinical or urgent concerns appropriately. Additional duties include processing referrals, Advice and Guidance requests, prescription requests, and delegated reports or forms. The role also supports clinicians and colleagues with data entry, scanning, filing, and other administrative work. The postholder will check non-NHS work for completeness and record chargeable work in line with practice procedures. Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to information governance, safeguarding, health and safety, and security procedures is essential. Flexibility to work with colleagues to provide cover, share workload, and maintain a consistent service is required.
